Thanks, Greg. At least you're one customer who has the balls to sign their name (I can understand why a dancer wouldn't). The reason for my question is that ink seems to be pretty common among the dancers, but not all at the same quantity, or with the same styles. So, I was curious what in the way of "dancer inkage" appeals to customers the most -- sheer quantity, subdued. humorous, and so forth. My own taste, as far as quantity, I like somewhere in the middle. Also, ink with a backstory, are humorous, or whatever can feed a discussion with he dancer. Since I only go in during day shift, the dancers whose ink I like the most are Tanya and Bella.

The doorman DOES get paid hourly and his job is the most basic position available he barely does anything the janitor deserves to get tipped more then him. The dj is constantly working with the dancers playing their music memorizing names giving a description thats why he gets tipped plus learning how to use that equipment is not easy. & DONT even compare dancers job to the f**cking doormans or even the dj seriously... pathetic loser i know its him posting that bullshit down their go to hell you lazy son of a b*tch youre trying to mooch off hard working girls.

I thought she was still there? it's just really tough for me right now cuz most of you know I'm trying to make my schedule work while living out of state....yup. I do not know who I would believe in this situation. I have no inside knowledge. I have worked in many places and can tell you how many work. An ambitious young person starts working at a company and is willing to do most anything to get ahead including reporting to management that others, typically workers that are perceived to be competition or ones that he does not like, are looking for another job, cheating the company, or anything negative. Many managers typically view acting on this information or lies as good management and the person who is squealing or lying as a good promotable employee. The result is that good employees are laid off or fired and there is a lot of friction at the workplace. In contrast to this type of management I mention a friend who has a small asphalt paving company and his employees don't quit and only the worst are ever fired. Many have been there long enough to do most other employee's jobs if needed. He treats them as adults and says if he is ill or not managing the crew that day, they know what to do without being told. In many work places employees are eager to blame others for anything that goes wrong instead of cooperating to get the job done.

Is it the doorman or the DJ that is trying to shake down the dancers? I fail to see how the guy that stands at the door and doesn't do a sweep inside the club can say who is dirty or not unless he is getting information from someone else. I'm not sure that if I were the owner or a manager I would find anything the doorman said to be very credible. The waitresses and bartesnders know much more about what happens on the couches and I don't hear of them bad-mouthing the dancers and getting them fired.

So if they are cleaning house for day shift, are they going to get rid of girls on the night shift too?I've been a patron for at least a decade and going into the back dance rooms I see what services I can get and from which girls. Day shift and night shift are dirty the same; so it's funny that they are getting rid of day girls but not the night ones. So that must mean that it does have to do with the tipping and not the actual dirtiness of the girl. E is by far the most corrupt strip bar.

Sad but it's the truth... Girls do get fired for not tipping the doormen. One doorman in particular is notorious for that. Ask any girls (past n present) and they'd be able to tell u who. He can sit there n make up bull like the girls that got let go r dirty but that's not the truth. This club is going down hill n it's sad. We can only wait n see what will happen in months to come... They got rid of three of the hottest nicest n best girls. E will lose many loyal patrons cuz of that. I think the owner should look into what's really going on instead of just taking the word of some money hungry bafoon. Again, sad but true.

hate to take a look at the other side, but the dancers expect tips from the customers for performing a service right? and they get pissed when there is no tip. how is that different from the doorman, who helps the girls with their bags watches to make sure the girls dont get their cars screwed with or has osmeone stalking them or who does not pay for a dance, they shake them down-it cant be both ways-either tipping is good and expect for everyone or it is not.

And I ain't worried about how that settlement judgment going to put a double whammy on the E's books. The revenue side of the ledger be a lot lighter come April when I no longer be collecting fees and fines from my dancers--hell, lately there be almost as much in proceeds from the dancers as from the gentlemen customers. And the expense side of the ledger be much heavier with the new wages to pay. If things don't pick up, my profits going down by a whopping amount, and that's the double truth, Ruth. But don't fret, the E ain't circling the drain yet, and I be ferociously determined to turn things around. Hitherto I been so dependent on fleecing my girls that I've neglected the business proper. My bad; I buttered my bread and now I has to lay in it. But everybody likes to look at pretty girls, and it surely ain't rocket science getting more gentlemens in the door. And pay no mind that things be slow at all the other strip clubs--that don't mean nothing, because everybody knows that those places be run by boneheads. We better than them, and we going to be even more better. Well, I be getting off at the next stop to look up Webmaster John and thank him for fighting the good fight, and to show my appreciation for all he done for the E. You have a happy new year." And then she reach up and tug on the cord, and minutes later she be out on the sidewalk, smiling and waving as the bus pull away. Everybody on that bus be applauding Olivia, and Big Elwood's spirits be buoyed after hearing her. But then somebody explained to him that the lady wasn't Olivia at all, and that it was actually the incredible Meryl Streep. Ms. Streep sure can disappear into a role, but maybe the premise for this performance be all wrong. Big Elwood stay out of it. He wish Olivia well, and he hope she and the E have a good 2012.

Curious---April could be on the cover of Playboy or Vogue. She fair and blonde, and her beauty be downright Michelle-esque--the best kind there is. Although she don't attack the stage with the verve of a Daisy (but who else can?), April do have that feminine gracefulness that seem natural to most pretty girls, and she have a sweet smile. Big Elwood have seen her only once, and see is all he did--so maybe somebody else can give you a better 411. And she really should think about being more of a visible presence when not onstage or in the couch room--it would certainly help improve the pitiable attendance we been seeing lately at the E. If the club wants to make money, maybe they should try advertising a little bit instead of taking from their own employees. You have to spend some to make some. Other clubs in the area do much more advertising than E. Other clubs have coupon nights. Half off entry fees if you get in by a certain time. Dance specials to get things rolling. Get a certain number, get one free. Its been slow lately, nights with just a few guys. I don't think that is the fault of these very lovely women. There is certainly reason to come in...if you're one of us old regulars. Customers will move on if they get a better deal somewhere else. And you get a set of legal newbies every year. Where's the outreach to them? I don't want E to become Taboo, but there is such a thing as advertising.

Some folks keep making comparisons between employment at a regular job and this club. They are not the same thing. Working in an edgy profession, these women are much more subject to illegal abuse. They have private lives, are afraid of being exposed, are single moms or students, so they're easy to exploit. If you miss a regular job, yes, you miss pay, but that is not comparable to a fine. You just lose a day's salary, which is not the same as coming back to work and having to give back $50 -200 to your boss from what you earned on other days that you showed up. If you miss work often enough, it can legitimately create an unemployment problem. Most jobs, though, allow a certain number of sick days. There are none here without fines. You could be in a hospital bed from a car wreck, and you'd still get fined. Also, on taxes, if you're shown as an independent contractor, there shouldn't be an expectation of tip reports, like a waitress. I tip heavily. I wish more guys would. Some of these comments seem to miss the point: basic human rights.

All this issue of the lawsuit settlement reminds me of president Obama... who try to help by hurting more. He thinks that taxing the rich is going to solve the economic issue and guess what... we the poor are going to pay those taxes by paying more for the same products that the rich produce. Same here... dancers will get a paycheck and will not be fined but guess who is goig to compensate for that loss in revenue. Exactly, we the customers and the dancers. The rich is going to make money anyway... either firing people to reduce costs or incresing prices to augment revenue. That means a slow down in the economic cycle wich brings more problems. What will happen to a dancer who is not getting enough dances per day? same that what happens to an employee who is not very efficient. And if you happen to be fan of hers, then you will not see her anymore. We should focuse on what we are... customers, and as customers we should not interfere in the internal policies of the business. That is an issue that should be resolved between the dancers and Ecstasy. What is all these talk about the fines? If you miss to work you will not get paid... that is sort of a fine. If I dont show up to work the day before or after a holiday, I dont get paid the holidays. That is about $300 that i loose. So what will happen to a dancer who dont show up to work, she wil not get paid for the day. Is not the same thing? A bussines has the legal right to implement policies within the company to satisfy the need of the business itself. I just hope all these dont hurt us as customers and the dancers in the short or long run...

To answer your question:

The court is ordering the club to do the following, no later than 3/28/12:

Stop charging stage fees

Stop charging all fines

Classify all dancers as employees

So, yes all dancers will receive paychecks. The club is not allowed to let the dancers call themselves "independent contractors" after 3/28/12.

What is not clear, is what other changes Olivia will make. She will likely change the policy regarding how much the dancer gets to keep out of the $50 per dance. I'm guessing there will be other changes too. Personally, I think the dancers will have the opportunity to make more money after the changes take place. If the club doesn't allow the dancers to keep a large percentage of the dance money, all the girls would go work some place else.

If you are considering returning, you should wait until after the changes go into effect, otherwise, you will still be subject to fees and fines.

This is a pretty basic web site and I think given a little $ they may add a really nice one with logins and security. A page that the girls, with their password, could set their schedules, and a clock in and clock out function tht the girl could use with a smartphone. I do this for a living and it would be that hard. Nothing against you John you've done a good job up till now but a professional site might be nice and you could leave it alone and get on with something more productive.

Thanks to Mackenzie for having the strength to keep the channels open. Glad you'll post roll call. We do have this thing called free speech. But, Mackenzie, this did need to go public. You're notoriously successful at this job and probably don't feel threatened, but there have been violations of labor law. Your fellow dancers aren't illegal immigrants in some sweatshop. We have sick leave laws in the state. So, yes, I'm afraid there are matters of right and wrong here, and it was important that customers and dancers have the knowledge. All these guys who come in, pay their ten, lurk in the back.... just maybe if they know what the women go through, that they have to pay to work, even when there isn't business, they'll walk to the stage and release that buck they've been gripping like gold bullion.

Actually, most small business owner have no clue how internet can help/hurt their business. They have no clue how to listen to customers before, now with this new tool, they are in the trying out mode. Just like a girl's appearance, how your web site looks will attract certain kind of customers. Ecstasy has been self-portrait as a high end class club, hopefully, it will create a web site with a higher standard! Roll call is jest one example, technology is there for a long while, but not until recently clubs starting to using it. May be it's a good time to start using this great tool to listen to customers and find out what they like and may be, just may be, they will keep coming back?

Z - I agree with you 100%. I don't think the management has any clue how difficult it may be to create their own website. Sure they could sign up with Godaddy and use one of their templates to get something up, but I don't think they will be happy with it. I am sure they don't realize that to get a website similar to mine with the ability to post comments and rollcalls that's been customized to prevent spam (which, if uncontrolled, would be dozens per day) and has the capability of remotely monitoring and editing the site from a cell phone, it would cost thousands. I don't see Olivia spending thousands...

Doesn't Olivia realize that rollcalls = more $ for the girls = more $ for the club??? Does she really think that she is hurting me by not having the girls post rollcalls? LOL! Maybe Olivia doesn't need to make any more money, but the managers, dancers, bartenders and waitresses will all make less money if the rollcalls stop. They are only hurting themselves by discouraging rollcalls.

By the way, here's a tip. For dancers that realize the benefit of posting rollcalls can do so and sign it Steve, or Bob or John. Nobody will ever know it wasn't a customer or which girl did it.

I have limited experience working with web customers but a lot of experience working with software customers. Customers, the ones paying for it, typically want to have all the ideas and do not want to think about the design ahead of time. The result is a lot of wasted effort and money. A typical cycle would be 1) a quick prototype is built by the designer and the customer sort of agrees but does not think about it much 2) then after seeing it and thinking about it more, the customer does not like it and makes some suggestions but probably does not want to pay extra for the modifications even though the prototype was agreed upon. 3) then after some wrangling, the design begins to settle down, and if there are not too many hard feelings the work proceeds to a beta version in which the owner, some employees, and girls are permitted limited use to work the kinks out. 4) then the real testing begins and E customers, and employees have to like it and use it. If they do not like it and use it, it might result in a lot of wasted effort 5) When E customers start to use it, the real shake out will begin and it will have to work with all browsers and operating systems even obsolete Windows 98 and Apple browsers. Then comes the maintenance of the site and some E customers and others will try to crash the system, post inappropriate messages etc. This stuff does not maintain itself. New bugs will be discovered and some may want new capabilities. It may work out fine, but there is some risk. Naturally more problems occur with large projects, and this is a small one. At the moment John maintains the site for free (I think) and many do not realize how much work it takes. My suggestion is to leave it alone unless the site is totally unacceptable. He created a nice usable web site and maintains it. I have been hired as a contractor / consultant to un-screw a lot of screwed up projects. Do not get dejected or feel negative because most projects will succeed if enough money is thrown at them. A disclaimer: I have never met John and do not know him at all.

Big Elwood very delighted by Billy Joe Bob's mention of Cherish in his post of Nov. 1. If there were to be a statue erected at E in honor of one dancer, it would have to be a statue of cute little Cherish. Going back to the days of the Little Theatre with the tiny stage, she set an example for others to follow and she be the bedrock upon which the E would develop. Big Tom: I don't see myself going to any other nude club. I have been going to the Library (formerly Deja Vu), which is topless and you can't beat the drink specials on Tuesday nights. They have some good looking girls there.

What brought me back to E? - I wanted to meet some of the new girls, especially the ones that participated on my website. It was nice to finally meet them and put a face to the name. I only talked to them and sat at their stage. I didn't get any dances. I haven't gotten a dance in many years. I was tired of seeing so much of my money go to the club instead of the girl. I preferred to sit at a girl's stage and tip her $15 to $20. I met a couple girls recently that I really enjoyed talking to and sitting at their stage. I am afraid to announce their names, though, because I'm worried they would get in trouble or fired.

First off, I am not an E dancer with a gripe. I've been in the real estate business in this county for many years and a customer for nearly as long. I just like these women like the others posting on their behalf. Notice that none of these supposed E dancers in love with fines are willing to post their names. Why not? You'd get some good kiss-ass points with management. If you don't fine them, women won't work? You must think little of your fellow employees who are trying to make a living in one of only three decent nude clubs in the area, none of which have fine structures like E. The women I know at this club are kind to each other. They compete, sure, but they come to the stage on these holidays when the place is mostly empty and tip each other. They don't make lots of money on holidays. That's baloney. "Former Dancer," why don't you identify yourself? Have the guts to speak so unkindly to whomever you're talking about directly. I don't know anybody in the club who is anywhere near fifty, and Cherish was a lady until the end, which is more than I can say about you.

Well, I am not a lawyer but it seems to me that the strippers have won most, if not all of the litigation pursued, either through legal decision or negotiated settlement. I know this was the case up in SF and also I believe here in SD. So there must be a reason for this, and I believe it is because the practices at the strip clubs were in violation of some statute? Unless the clubs fall under some special "entertainment" category I would think that they need to get with the program. Saying "no one is forced to work there" does not make it right in the eyes of the law. The club will just need to set other acceptable (Ã¢â‚¬Å“legalÃ¢â‚¬Â) ways of disciplining absenteeism, etc. Can anyone cite another club where this type of change went into effect and the club went under because of it? I canÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t think of any myself, so I am thinking that the owners will just have to figure out how to do things differently to survive. Many other clubs close on holidays, for example, and still make money.

Anyone who cares about the dancers here should read webmaster John's information on a legal settlement for them. The other night, a friend of mine danced until midnight, even though she was sick. She still had to pay a $50 fine to go home early, just as if she'd never shown up. The lawsuit discussed is worth a look. These are the abusive working conditions I've mentioned before.

Wow, Professor! You definitely have opened my eyes to some of the harassment these women have to put up with not only from the patrons but also from the owner. I have always wanted to get dances from Amy but she never approached me so I thought she maybe only danced for regulars. I will be in Orange County next weekend and hopefully I will get a chance to swing by the club. If I do go I will try to go on a night that Amy works. I would love to spend some of my evening with her. I always thought we might have something in common -- I understand she is in the medical field as am I. I certainly want to make sure that she leaves the club with more money than she had when she arrived that night.
